Weylin B. Seymour’s // Brooklyn Wedding Inspiration

On this day reserved for love, we thought we would share this romance inspired photoshoot from Christina Lilly Photography in one of the most breathtaking Brookyn venues around- Weylin B. Seymour’s. We always love collaborating with other professionals to help them bring their vision to life! For starters, how could we turn down an opportunity to stand in awe of the architectural beauty of the  iconic Williamsburg Savings Bank.

Every room is unique and has been restored with its wooden details, marble and stone work, mosaics and intricate wallpaper.  It is truly a sight to be seen!

Our Sybil Evergreen Sofa is sitting pretty in the Presidents Room.

The Trustees Room dressed up with one of our Adelaide chairs, Lily side table, and antique Victrola.

PLEASE BE SEATED: escort card inspiration for your wedding

“If you don’t have a seat at the table, bring your own chair.” – Midy Aponte

While we love the sentiment of this quote, it is not exactly practical or smiled upon when it comes to seating at a wedding. Lots and lots of planning (and maybe some tears) went into creating the floorplan and who would be sitting with whom when it came time for that portion of the evening. All drama aside, the escort card display at a wedding can be a detail that couples can have a little fun with and show their personality or interests. We are sharing some inspiration from weddings that have incorporate some of our favorite pieces of our inventory to help guests find their seat at the table.

This October wedding at the Water Witch Club used our antique shoe rack for their log filled, cozy, fall display. Escort card tags hung from each piece of wood with a gold tack and gorgeous calligraphy from Mary Kate Moon with candles and florals filling the top shelf. It makes us want to curl up next to it with a good book! (photo: Lovesick/ laser cut sign: Ever Laser)

A beautiful white antique dresser overflowing with greens sat pretty on this venue’s porch with greens overflowing from its drawers courtesy of Wallflowers. Since this bride opted for a simple tented escort card with rose gold calligraphy, we recommended that she have each card held in a delicate holder since the display was going to be outside. There is nothing worse than carefully alphabetizing your guests when a big gust of wind comes by!  (photo: Alexander Johnnides for Pat Furey)

Our three-piece ladder is such a versatile piece. You can use it with shelves to display escort cards, favors and even photos yet we love what Nicole at All Who Wander Events designed here. Pennants and lush green garland with touches of spray roses from Seaport Flowers made for a showstopper of a detail as well as very functional. (photo: Todd France)

A beautiful, June backyard wedding made even more stunning with this escort display designed by Gilded Lily Events. Using our white metal garden arch, they decided to use it for a more unexpected purpose when they attached fabric with all of the guests’ names and table number expertly calligraphed by Mary Kate Moon and made softer by garland provided by Blade Floral. It is a work of art! (photo: Christian Oth Studio)

Although you can’t see our baker’s rack in all of their glory in this shot, they are there! This upstate NY wedding jarred dulce de leche in honor of the bride’s Argentinan heritage and these antique racks were the perfect display with calligraphy by Mary Kate Moon. Jars of jelly, grandma’s tomato sauce, chocolate chip cookies… you name it because guests love escort cards that double as favors and double points if they are food! (photo: Flora + Fauna)

These unique wooden pieces were originally candle molds are now what we lovingly refer to as “antique wooden card holders” because we found they worked perfectly for escort cards now that our candle making days are over. Another beautiful backyard wedding in September used the bride’s color palette of green and more green to create an ombre pattern using paint chips (great tip!) with white calligraphy by our dear friend, Mary Kate Moon. Luckily the wind held off, but definitely something to keep in mind if you love this look. (photo: Christina Lilly)

Thanks to technology we do not need to punch in and punch out of our 9 to 5 manually so what to do with those old contraptions. Turn them into an escort card display of course! This vintage punch card holder can hold up to 100 cards which is quite a big amount considering escort cards are usually written per couple plus it is freestanding and fits on a small cocktail table seen here at Fernbrook Farms. Perfect if you ask us! (photo: Heidi Benjamin)

As much fun as it is to utilize our more unexpected pieces for your escort card display, we still love a good old fashioned chalkboard with gorgeous calligraphy. This chalkboard is 6ft tall which is the perfect size for a large guest list or for maximum readability. As you might be able to tell, we highly recommend Mary Kate Moon for your calligraphy needs! However you choose to help your guests find their seat, we are here to help suggest something that will work for your personality or interests.  Please send us an email or make a wishlist on our website to get started!

Introducing Styled Lounge Areas for your Wedding or Event

Today feels pretty special as we are finally introducing something that we have had in the works for a while. Upholstered seating and lounge areas have become a popular “must have” for weddings and events recently and we completely understand why! We love the idea of bringing the “inside out”, creating a comfy place for your guests to relax, or setting up a gorgeous backdrop for photos. Whatever your reason for wanting to incorporating a lounge area, we get it and we wanted to make envisioning how this might look at your wedding a little bit easier. We are starting with the first seven of these styled lounge areas and we plan to create more as we continue to curate our collection. So without further ado, let me introduce you to them!

Meet Lucía. This boho inspired lounge area is perfect for an easy breezy summer wedding or really anytime of course. This seating area includes a mod mint and gold patterned Bardot couch, two mint arm chairs, a midcentury modern slat coffee table, 3 Turkish pillows, a vintage rug, a rattan side table and shelf and two Moroccan leather poufs. Not to mention the three books, 2 geo terrariums, 3 brass bud vases and 2 brass urns! It is hard to pick a favorite but this one is definitely at the top of my list!

Meet Hudson. This seating area is slightly more masculine and designed with a neutral palette in mind. The Lil’ Admiral sofa is the standout flanked by our gorgeous cane back Chanterelle chairs.  Two authentic tree stumps, a rattan side table, and our antique wooden box coffee table allow for plenty of room for drinks or cigars. To accessorize with a nod to the adventurer, we have included two vintage globes, an antique fan, a milk crate, three vintage books, two beige pillows and not one, but two awesome rugs.  This lounge area is so warm and inviting and perfect for a fall wedding!

Meet Begonia. This lounge area is definitely a little flirty! With tones of hot pink, blush and peach- she sure is a knock out! Included in this styled area are our Crawford and Campbell chairs, Petal blush settee and two Cecily armchairs. Our favorite pink vintage rug with an antique trunk and the Grace side table make her cozy for cocktails. Three brass candlesticks, two cognac brown suitcases, two crates, a Turkish pillow and 3 vintage books sure make this lady a real head-turner!

Meet Caspian.  A nod to the nautical or seafaring folk, this seating area features the Rivington Sofa, Olivia chair and a gorgeous blue arm chair all paired with a stunner of a rug.  For a touch of whimsy, we incorporated our lobster trap and steamer trunk as coffee and side tables. Atop the barrel, you will find a silver globe, vintage lunchbox, vintage books, and sea glass inspired bottles to round out the look and don’t forget the anchor!

Meet Fitzgerald. This 20’s inspired lounge area is all about the gold. Our Willow sofa is a soft grey 3-seater with gilded details paired gorgeously with a pair of Adelaide chairs on top of an antique blush and blue rug. Two gold and marble side tables, a brass and glass coffee table and a brass bar cart with a vintage victrola and French crystal chandelier surely exclaim elegance and luxury.

Meet Timberline.  This lounge area reminds me of visiting an old friend. This tufted leather beauty would make any guest comfortable. Two Astrid baby blue velvet arm chairs and one unique patterned wingback chair on top of a vintage rug. Rounding out this seating area is a white wooden coffee table, a round side table and five vintage tins. This lounge is definitely perfect for a cozy cocktail hour or a cigar lounge.

Meet Havana. I may have saved the best for last! This little beauty is neutral but with a pop of color in the red vintage rug! The one-of-a-kind Alma white caneback couch tries to steal the show but not to be outdone by the lovely grey linen loveseat and white velvet armchairs. Swoon! I am so in love with this distressed blue trunk and brass and wood bar cart! We have included the cutest little brass pineapple, three wooden cigar boxes, vintage books, gold mercury votive holders and a crate (perfect for incorporating a plant). This lounge was made for the nightlife!

We hope you are loving our lounge areas as much as we are! We can’t wait to hear which one is your favorite! Please send us an email or make a wishlist on our website to reserve your styled lounge for your wedding or special event!
